Best time to visit
Monsoon usually begins from November till March. We stay open and welcome everyone to share the impressive rain showers and big waves with us. It is also possible to surf during this time. The dry season usually starts end of March till October

Language
Malay is widely spoken in Tioman but most of the islanders understand or speak English.

Getting around
Getting around is done mostly by trekking or by sea taxi.
You may also rent bicycles and mopeds in Tekek, for a small tour.

Money
The Local currency is RM (Ringgit Malaysia) and sen (cents). Swiss Cottage does not take credit cards, but there is also an automatic teller machine at the bank right next to the Airport.

First-Aid
It is perhaps useful to bring a first-aid kit containing mosquito repellent, antiseptic cream, plasters, Paracetamol and Sunlotion. Advisable shots are Tetanus and Hepatitis A+B. There is a clinic on the island equipped for minor injuries.It is not necessary to take malaria tablets or vaccination for yellow fever, but if you are in doubt, please consult your doctor

Food
There are many local and seafood restaurants within walking distance from our resort.

Duty free
Tioman is a duty free zone and offers a good selection of alcohol and cigarettes at very cheap prices
