Activities
Tioman has a lot to offer in terms of fun and activities. It's natural jungle opens up a world full of wildlife, vegetation, waterfalls and other things waiting to be discovered. Our biggest treasure however has to be the sea.
Diving
Tioman is one of the most popular dive spots in Malaysia. It is perfect for both learning to dive and diving for fun at over 20 dive sites. Tioman Dive Centre operates directly from the Swiss Cottage in Tekek..
They offer a comprehensive range of PADI dive training courses. The atmosphere at the dive centre is very relaxed and informal. And with safety as a primary concern. If you aren't ready to take the plunge as a diver, but would still like to enjoy Tiomans marine life you can easily rent mask and fins and enjoy the coral reefs just in front of Swiss cottage beach.
If you have time it is definetely recomendable to go on a snorkeling trip, as there are abundance of fishes and many impressive corals to explore. We are can arrange this for you if requested.
Jungle Trekking
There is a jungle path that connects both sides of the island. The village on the other side is called Juara and has small restaurants and some resorts. On the trek you will get the chance to see monkeys, iguanas, many different types of butterflies and even snakes if you are lucky. The plant world boasts giant trees, bamboo and other exotic plants. There is even a small waterfall midway. The walk is approximately 7 kilometres long and will take around 2 and a half hours. We recommend that you leave early in the morning to avoid the heat and wear long trousers with proper shoes. As there are no shops or restaurants on the way, please bring enough water and maybe a snack along with you.
Other popular treks are footpaths, paved in places, that connect the villages of Genting and Paya as well as Air Batang and Salang (with a stop at Monkey Bay in between). |
